MAHANOY CITY – Two outstanding community members — a Mahanoy City Elks member and a citizen — were recognized for their contributions Saturday.
The Mahanoy City Elks Lodge 695 named Cheryl Stanitis as Elk of the Year and Dawn Frye as Citizen of the Year.
Stanitis has been an Elks member for two decades and organized a Veterans Day dinner last year for more than 80 people. She is also a member of the Shenandoah Columbia Hose Fire Co.
Frye is also an Elks member and is president of the Mahanoy City Girls Softball league, Mahanoy City Community Event planning committee, Mahanoy Area Baseball Boosters, and treasurer of the Mahanoy Area Chamber of Commerce.
The post Mahanoy City Elks recognize member, citizen of the year first appeared on The Shenandoah Sentinel.
