Louisiana women recognized for community contributions at awards gala

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The community is invited to enjoy an evening dinner at The Shades of Success Calendar’s third annual awards gala. Twelve women with Louisiana ties will receive awards, spotlighting their professional work, accomplishments, and community contributions.

Louisiana First News Morning Anchor Sydney Simone is one of the honorees. She will not only receive an award, but all of the women are also published in a full-color calendar that includes pictures of them as well as their biographies.

The annual gala is spearheaded by a group of African-American journalists who had a vision of giving back to their communities.
