NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A strong storm system will be moving across the Mississippi Valley through the afternoon and we will have the chance of severe weather as the line of storms moves in with it. Tornado watch in effect for new orleans area 1
We currently have a tornado watch for the entire area of southern Louisiana and Mississippi until 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 4. Isolated tornadoes will be possible as the line of storms moves through.

The line is moving quickly and is already past Lake Charles as of 2PM. Strong wind gusts are the main issues with the line at the moment which is why we have severe thunderstorm warnings to our west. This will likely be the case in our area as well, but there is the low end chance for an isolated tornado especially north of Interstate 10.
Keep an eye on the radar if you are out and about Mardi Gras afternoon and evening and have a way to get warnings if one is issued for your area.
