On Saturday, March 1, at 9:34 a.m., police received reports of a person outside of the Bank of America on South 27th Street, claiming to have a weapon. Officers spoke with the individual, conducted a search, and determined he was unarmed.
Abilene Public Information Officer Rick Tomlin shared details about the incident, saying it was important to, “dispel, once again, the inappropriate and malicious social media posts from a source other than our local media.”
No charges or citations were issued. Because the incident took place at a bank, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was also notified.
