Texas High baseball walks it off to defeat Longview

TEXARKANA, TX (KTAL/KMSS) — Thursday marked the first day of the Texas High Classic Baseball Tournament, with Texas High and Longview as the second game of the afternoon.

Texas High went up early, with five runs in the bottom of the first. A Longview two-run home run in the top of the third cut Texas High’s lead down, 5-2. The Tigers answered with two more runs in the bottom of the third.

Longview came up with three runs in the top of the fifth, making it a 7-6 game.

It stayed that way until the top of the seventh, when the the Lobos brought home 4 runners to take a 10-7 lead. But the Tigers were able to crawl back to make it a 10-10 game. With runners on third and second Knox Pilgreen walked it off to center for the Tigers 11-10 victory.

Texas High will play next Friday, February 28 at 1 pm against Liberty-Eylau and will finish the tournament on Saturday, March first at 1 pm against Hooks.
