According to the Kentucky State Police Department (KSP), it happened near the Kentucky Highway 1039 intersection with Knox Lillard Road.
Just after 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, troopers with KSP Post 5 in Campbellsburg were dispatched to the scene of the crash. An initial investigation showed that a 2007 Chrysler minivan was heading north, driven by Kyle Jones, 18, of Ghent, when, for unknown reasons, he allegedly drove across the center line and hit a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was heading south, driven by Andrew Heichelbech, 20, of Owenton.
Jones was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner’s Office, and Heichelbech was flown by helicopter to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
An investigation into the deadly crash remains ongoing by KSP Post 5.
