GRETNA, La. (WGNO) — Officers with the Gretna Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a man dead on Saturday, March 1.
Gretna police reported that officers responded to a report of a disturbance and shooting in the 2100 block of Stafford Street around 5:38 p.m., where they found 36-year-old Joshua Carter with a gunshot wound to his chest.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
According to Gretna police, 58-year-old Scott Fredericks was arrested at the scene. Gretna police officers said Fredericks was allegedly in possession of the gun used in the shooting.
Fredericks faces a charge of second-degree murder.
