The National Guard said Friday that “certain posts have been removed or are in the process of being removed or modified in accordance with federal guidance.”
According to a memo issued by the Assistant Secretary of Defense with the subject line “Digital Content Refresh,” by March 5, all online content referring to DEI must be removed from Department of Defense websites and social media platforms.
The Department of Defense is noted that “DEI content includes but is not limited to information that promotes programs, concepts, or materials about critical race theory, gender ideology, and preferential treatment or quotas based upon sex, race or ethnicity, or other DEI-related matters with respect to promotion and selection reform, advisory boards, councils, and working groups.”
Digital content referenced in the memo that must be removed includes news articles, photos, and videos. Records will be archived and retained in accordance with record management policies.
If all DEI content can not be removed by March 5, the Department of Defense says all news articles, photos, and videos published during President Joe Biden’s term must be removed from public display.
The Pennsylvania National Guard says it is “committed to transparency, professionalism, and adherence to DoD directives.”
