Man found fatally shot inside West Side apartment building

CHICAGO — Police are searching for answers after a man was found with a fatal gunshot wound inside the hallway of an apartment building on the city’s West Side on Friday night.

According to CPD, officers were called to the scene in the 3100 block of West Madison Street, in Garfield Park, just after 10 p.m. following a report of a person shot inside a residential building in the area.

Authorities arrived on the scene and found a 39-year-old man who had suffered a gunshot wound to his head in a hallway of the building. The victim was later pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim and it is currently unclear what led to the shooting.

Officers said no arrests have been made in connection with the deadly shooting and an investigation is currently underway.
