Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called around 8:52 p.m. to 4335 E. Southport Road, the listed address for a Texas Roadhouse in the area, after receiving reports of a possible shooting.
IMPD said officers arrived and found one individual suffering from at least one gunshot wound. IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer said the victim was transported to an area hospital where they later died.
Weilhammer said preliminary information indicates that some type of altercation began inside the restaurant that spilled outside into the parking lot where shots were fired.
An off-duty IMPD officer proceeded to detain a “person of interest”, who police identified as an adult male, as they waited for uniformed officers to arrive on the scene. IMPD said they have detained the only individual they believe was involved in the incident.
