Theft suspect allegedly starts dumpster fire while fleeing Tye police
TYE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A routine theft call in Tye took a fiery turn Thursday night when a suspect, while fleeing from police, started a dumpster fire before being arrested.

Around 9:00 p.m. Thursday, a suspicious person was reported near Dollar General, allegedly stealing from the store. Shortly after, the suspect tried to escape on foot.

Tye police say in an unexpected turn, the suspect started a dumpster fire while evading capture. With assistance from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, officers ultimately arrested the individual near the railroad tracks off Highway 707. The individual’s identity has not yet been disclosed.

“We want to assure everyone that there is no immediate danger to the public at this time. Your safety is our priority! Thank you for your continued support,” the Tye Police Department shared online.
