According to a press release, the event is regarded as “one of the most prestigious and sought after tattoo conventions in the U.S.” Now in its 22nd run, the expo continues to grow in popularity. This year, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall will deliver the opening address to kick it off.
The Tattoo Expo will take place at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Hall 5 from March 7 – 9. Doors open on Friday, March 7 at 3 p.m. Daily tickets are $25, or a pass for the entire 3-day weekend can be bought for $50. Military and first responders will receive a discount at the door. Kids 12-17 can attend the expo for $10, or kids 12 and under can enter for free.
Tickets can be purchased online at slctattooexpo.com, or at the door, which will be cash-only.
The release states that international artists will include those from Australia, Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K., and Japan, as well as artists from all over the U.S. Artists at the expo will showcase a range of techniques and styles, including American traditional, black and grey, fine line, realism, and Japanese.
“We’ve channeled carefully to curate a group of artists for this event. You will see some of the best tattoo work available in the world, right here in Utah,” organizer Thad Robison said in the release.
The expo will offer opportunities for attendees to get tattoos in a safe and clean environment while learning about art and styles from all over the world. In addition, there will also be a range of vendors, a kids area with arts and crafts, and a daily tattoo contest.
Prices for tattoos at the expo may vary, and should be discussed with individual artists. According to the expo’s FAQs, there is a suggested $150 minimum for tattoos. The artists attending the expo can be previewed online are available to schedule with in advance or for walk-ups.
