President Trump’s granddaughter among 90 players set to compete in Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship in Murrells Inlet

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WBTW) — A granddaughter of President Donald Trump is scheduled to compete in this weekend’s 10th annual Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship at TPC Myrtle Beach, tournament organizers confirmed on Thursday.

Kai Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr., will be among 90 boys and girls competing in the 54-hole championship. Thirty-five of the competitors are in the Rolex AJGA rankings, including Charlie Woods, the son of golf legend and 15-time major champion Tiger Woods.

Also included in the field are two players representing the Grand Strand, Madison Messimer and Aiden Aguilar. Both are set to graduate from high school this year, Messimer from Myrtle Beach High School and Aguilar from Carolina Forest.

Messimer has signed her letter of intent to play collegiate golf at the University of Tennessee, and Aguilar has committed to play for Lander University.

Dustin Johnson, a Coastal Carolina University alum and the tournament’s namesake, has shown a long-time commitment to the game through his foundation, which has donated more than $500,000 to junior golf. He also has a golf school on the TPC Myrtle Beach campus.

He expressed excitement about the event while talking to members of the media at a news conference Thursday afternoon.

“It’s always great for me to come back to Myrtle,” Johnson said. “I don’t get to come back as much as I’d like to, but obviously with kids and still golfing myself I just don’t have a whole lot of time. It’s always great to come out here and support my event. Obviously, we’ve got a lot of really good juniors from all around the world. It’s just exciting to see how much this event has grown and then the quality of players that we have playing each year seems to get stronger and stronger. I’m just excited to be a part of it.”

The lineup for the 2025 field makes it one of the game’s premier junior events, said Allen Terrell, vice-president of the Dustin Johnson Foundation.

“Dustin’s hands-on involvement has helped the World Junior Golf Championship draw one of the strongest fields in junior golf year after year,” Terrell said. “Our past fields have featured some of the rising stars in golf today and we are confident that our 2025 participants will represent the next generation of golf champions.”

Tournament rounds are scheduled to start on Friday, with practice rounds being played throughout the day on Thursday. Cuts will be made following Saturday’s round, leaving the top 36 boys and ties and top 18 girls and ties to compete in the final round Sunday.

Spectators are welcome to attend all three days of the tournament, and admission is free. Thursday’s practice round is not open to the public.
