The highlight of the day came in the women’s distance medley relay (DMR), where Callie Hardy, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Michaela Rose, and Lorena Rangel Batres delivered a historic performance. The quartet captured gold with a record-breaking time of 10:50.15, setting a new LSU program record and SEC meet record. The victory marked LSU’s first women’s DMR conference title since 1985.
Freshman Edna Chepkemoi also made history in the women’s 5000-meter, clocking a school-record 15:39.43 to earn bronze. Competing in her first-ever 5000m race for LSU, Chepkemoi shattered the previous program record of 16:08.34, set last season by Ella Chesnut.
In the women’s long jump, Machaeda Linton secured a sixth-place finish with a best mark of 6.28 meters (20’ 7.25”), adding three points to the team total.
On the men’s side, sophomore Jaiden Reid qualified for the 200-meter final, finishing fourth in the prelims with a time of 20.46 seconds—a national record for the Cayman Islands and the third-fastest time in LSU history.
