Senate Bill 1 would create a dedicated Kentucky film office which would be be the first point of contact for any future film productions in the state. The office would also be tasked with marketing the state internationally for movies and television show s to film in Kentucky.
Like many other states, Kentucky does offer financial incentives in order to attract film and television productions to the state. In 2022, the industry generated around $200 million in revenue as well as an estimated $128 million locally from extra spending by productions such as dining and set construction.
The bill will soon head to the full State Senate for a vote.
