According to Rockford Police, two officers were in the van around 1:05 a.m. on Thursday, February 27th, when a vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Paige Russo, struck the driver’s side and then flipped over on its side.
Police said both Russo and the passenger, Steve Schorer, 40, got out and ran.
Schorer was located with the assistance of a police K-9. He was in possession of a set of brass knuckles, authorities said.
Russo was located nearby and taken into custody. She later tested positive for drugs, officials said.
Schorer was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Russo faces charges of Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident, Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, and various traffic offenses.
Both were booked into the Winnebago County Jail and then released after a pretrial detention hearing, with a notice to appear at a future court date.
