Student struck by vehicle in crosswalk near Kearns Junior High School

KEARNS, Utah (ABC4) — A student was hit by a vehicle in a crosswalk near Kearns Junior High School Thursday morning, according to Granite School District and the Unified Police Department.

Officials confirmed that a male student was struck by a vehicle at approximately 7:45 Thursday morning while riding his bike across a crosswalk near Kearns Junior High. The biker was hit by a Chevy Tahoe and transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police said the driver and witnesses were cooperating with the investigation. The student’s identity and current condition are not known at this time.

This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available.

Editor’s Note: This article has been corrected as it previously incorrectly stated that the student was walking, not biking, across the crosswalk.
