Rockford welcomes axe-throwing business to downtown

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Big Timber Axe-Throwing celebrated its move to Rockford’s downtown on Wednesday.

Big Timber’s newest Rockford location is located at 301 South Main Street. The previous location was shut down so it could move to the ground floor of a luxury apartment complex.

The location is almost double the size of the old business. It also features a bar with a rotating lineup of craft beers, seltzers and cocktails.

One of Big Timber’s owners said he hopes to bring a new experience to downtown Rockford.

“In Downtown Rockford, there’s not a whole lot of entertainment other than like going to an Icehogs game, but there’s a lot of bars downtown, but nobody really offers something fun to do, like an activity,” said Owner Joey Hammack. “So, we’re hoping this sparks a bunch of different activities in Downtown Rockford, just make it a place to come and hang out and like spend a ton of time, and not just sit at a bar.”

The opening of the new location has been a year and a half in the making.
