Ex-convict sexually abused girl after release from prison, jury finds

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An ex-convict was found guilty on Tuesday of sexually abusing a girl for a year, the Washington County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Raymond Perez, 39 was convicted of two counts of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, two counts of using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct, two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, and luring a minor.

Authorities say that Perez began abusing the victim in 2021 right after his release from prison on unrelated charges.

“The abuse continued until 2022 when the victim reported the defendant’s actions to a family member. She recorded several FaceTime conversations with the defendant to provide evidence of his criminal activity. The victim’s loved one alerted the Tigard Police Department and detectives launched an investigation,” the DA’s office said. “The victim was interviewed by medical experts at CARES Northwest where she gave additional details of the abuse. She also provided handwritten letters from the defendant in which the defendant used phrasing and terminology consistent with a romantic relationship.”

Perez will be sentenced on April 14.
