Joseph L. Skulsky was charged with Aggravated Possession of Stolen Ambulance, a felony, and Criminal Trespass to Land, a Class B misdemeanor.
Authorities allege Skulsky stole an ambulance from Swedish Hospital, located at 2739 West Foster Avenue, at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police recovered the vehicle about 15 miles away, in the parking lot of an office complex along Skokie Boulevard in Northbrook.
Radio transmissions from authorities indicated they were able to track the ambulance with GPS.
