IOWA CITY, Iowa — It didn’t even take an hour for Caitlin Clark’s return to the hardwood at Carver-Hawkeye Arena to sell out.

Iowa Women’s Basketball confirmed that the basketball icon’s return to her collegiate stomping grounds was a 15,000-ticket sellout. And it only took 40 minutes.

On May 4, Clark heads to Iowa City with her Indiana Fever teammates to take on the Brazilian National Team in a WNBA preseason showcase.

Despite the sellout, Clark fanatics can still find tickets on resale sites. But you might want to be sitting down before looking at the price. Secondary markets currently list tickets going anywhere from $600 to $1,000.

Clark is the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year and has been at the forefront of a surge in popularity for women’s basketball, dating back to her time as a Hawkeye where she broke the NCAA’s all-time scoring record.

Indiana Fever games were the most watched in the WNBA during the most-watched season in 24 years. In September, the Fever and the Mystics set a single-game record for the highest WNBA attendance at 20,711.

The Indiana Fever’s season kicks off in earnest on May 17 with a showdown in the Windy City against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
