They were rescheduled from Sunday with one big change no bands and no marching groups!
It was a fairly uncommon scenario with each parade only containing floats, however, some people didn’t seem to mind that change.
It was an extra day of Mardi Gras as the Krewe of Femme Fatale, Krewe of Carrollton and Krewe of King Arthur were postponed Sunday due to weather and rolled Tuesday night instead.
“It’s just a situation where we turn lemons into lemonade, and we’re just gonna turn the best out of every situation that we have,” said Myron Thibodeaux Jr.
“And look at this weather. I’m kind of glad they did, because look at this weather. We have perfect weather,” said Britney Chauntae.
While the parades were allowed to roll, they were only able to do so without marching bands or dance groups.
“Our group was supposed to march with the Krewe of Arthur on Sunday, so we’re sad because we don’t get to march anymore, but we decided to get together and have a watch party anyway,” said Sarah Post.
Some say it was an interesting experience, watching float after float, not being able to take your eyes off of the route even for a second.
“Fast. You can’t look away. You’ll get hit with beads. It’s fast and furious. It’s a different vibe for sure,” said Jennah Denney and Abby Perdue.
Some on the route say they enjoyed this quick style of pace, saying it made for a more thrilling parade.
“That was awesome. This was my first time ever experiencing something like that, and it was awesome. I enjoyed it,” said Arthur Richardson.
“Yeah, it’s really fun. We’re catching a lot of stuff and since the bands aren’t out here, it’s just float after float after float. It’s really fun,” said John Rogers and Natalie Westmoreland
The first parade began at the route at 5:45 p.m. and the last of the three parades ended at the beginning of the route at 7:30 p.m.
