According to president Mary Van Brunt and provost Rebecca Cantor, the majors being dropped include:
“Like many colleges and universities, we are facing challenges related to shifting student enrollment patterns,” read the email. “To address these challenges and align our academic offerings with current student demand, we are undertaking a process of academic program adjustments.”
The email offered students in those majors other options for coursework:
According to the email, current Spring Hill College “students will have the opportunity to complete their current major if they so choose.” School officials said they would help students to make it an easy transition.
The president and provost said the program adjustments have resulted in reducing faculty positions. The impacted faculty members have already been personally notified, and the school plans to help them through the transition.
