Shanika Strickland, 32, was arrested on Tuesday night in Gresham and is accused of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.
This comes after the sheriff’s office announced a “suspicious death” discovered on Nov. 2, 2024, at 11:34 a.m. after responding near the 4700 block of Delaney Road Southeast outside Turner. The person was identified as 26-year-old Jada Thompson.
“We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Thompson family during this difficult time,” the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. “We also wish to express our gratitude to the Gresham Police Department K-9 team, The United States Marshals Service for their assistance in the arrest, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Detectives for their dedicated work on this case.”
Strickland was set to be arraigned in a Marion County court on Wednesday afternoon.
