Lake Kirby Park adds new sign & bench

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Kirby Park has a new sign along its main road and a new bench along the Kirby North Trail.

The bench was made by an Eagle Scout Candidate, Connor Karl, from Troop 201 in March 2025. According to Scouting America Great Rivers Council,

the Eagles Scout rank represents the highest level of achievement within the Scout’s Boys Scouts of America.

The requirements to be eligible to be an Eagle Scout are:

• Have been active as a Life Scout for at least six months.
• Must have earned 21 merit badges, including specific required ones.
• Hold positions of leadership within their troop.
• Complete a significant community service project.
• Scouts must be under 18, although certain accommodations can be made for Scouts with disabilities or those who have experienced challenges in their Scouting journey.
