Indianapolis man pronounced dead after west side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man has been pronounced dead after a reported shooting early Tuesday morning on the west side of Indianapolis.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a home near the intersection of W. 34th Place and W. Beeler Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The report states that the initial call was for an aggravated assault. Officials said that officers were called on a person who was shot at the location, identified by IMPD as Kristopher Rashad Somerville.

On Monday afternoon, the Marion County Coroner’s Office listed this incident as a homicide, identifying Somerville as the person who died. The coroner’s report stated that Somerville was 36 years old.
