By rssfeeds-admin Officers spotted Baylee Gipson, 25, walking in the area of West 9th Street and Ash Avenue around 9:20 a.m., the Sterling Police Department reported.
Police said Gipson had a warrant in Whiteside County stemming from a December 2024 Sterling home invasion.
He ran when approached by officers and was taken into custody after a foot chase. Police said a loaded gun and 266 grams of cannabis were found during a search.
He was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Firearm without a FOID, Possession of Ammunition without a FOID, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Armed Violence.
He was booked into the Whiteside County Jail pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
