On December 5, 2024, detectives were called the Dollar General on 11th Street for reports that $850 was stolen from a floor safe inside the business after it had closed. The store’s manager told officials Monroe was fired in November 2024 and never turned in his keys to the business.
The suspect is accused of breaking into the Dollar General again on December 10, 2024.
Monroe spoke to authorities and told them he used the keys he still had to the business to get in and steal the $850.
He also admitted to the second break-in incident but said he could not access the safe.
Monroe is charged with burglary.
He was granted pretrial release on February 25, 2025.
