Carle Health to offer ‘career development opportunities’ for Health Alliance workers

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — A Carle Health spokesperson confirmed with WCIA on Wednesday that they will work with Health Alliance employees toward new opportunities. This comes after the insurance company announced their operations will end, putting hundreds of people out of jobs and leaving thousands searching for new coverage.

Health plan team members will be offered career development opportunities to support them in their transition, including paid training opportunities and free tuition to start new clinical or clinical support careers at Carle Health. We are committed to providing timely information so that affected team members understand the support mechanisms in place as we continue to serve members even after coverage has ended.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Carle Health told WCIA that 187,824 members will have to find coverage elsewhere. WCIA reached out to the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) to understand how this might impact state workers.

Like so many others, CMS was not given advance notification of this decision by Health Alliance. State employees, retirees, and their dependents should know that the change in coverage is not immediate, and CMS is working diligently to make sure impacted individuals experience a smooth transition. CMS will communicate directly with impacted parties and ensure they are well informed of their options.
