Body of 15-year-old girl found near train tracks on city’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS — A 15-year-old girl, who has reported as a runaway on Feb. 10, was found dead on Saturday near the railroad tracks on the city’s west side.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office confirmed Shaylee Snyder was discovered at 1800 S. Sigsbee Street. Her body was found around 2:12 p.m., according to a police report.

The girl’s cause and manner of death is still pending.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the incident is currently being investigated as a death investigation, not a homicide. That could change, however, following the results of the coroner’s investigation.

Family has been sharing flyers in an attempt to locate Snyder for the past 15 days. The 15-year-old went missing on Feb. 10 and was believed to be in the Beech Grove area, according to the flyer.

“She is loved and we just want to bring her home safely,” the flyer said.
