Woman in custody after man stabbed during fight on South Side

CHICAGO — A 41-year-old man is hospitalized after being stabbed during a physical altercation on the city’s South Side.

The stabbing happened around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday on the 2400 block of South Wentworth Avenue.

Police said a 41-year-old man was involved in a verbal altercation with a woman and another man, which became physical when the male offender pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the back.

The man and woman fled the scene. Officers were able to place the woman in custody nearby.

The 41-year-old man was transported to Stroger Hospital in fair condition.

Area One Detectives are investigating. Charges are pending for the woman.
