Man accused of hitting Crystal Springs officer with brick

CRYSTAL SPRINGS, Miss. (WJTV) – Crystal Springs police arrested a man after he allegedly attacked an officer with a brick.

Police said Maurio Evans, 35, became belligerent around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 22 while attempting to gain entry through the front door of the Crystal Springs Police Department.

After an officer confronted Evans, investigators said he fought with the officers and hit one of them in the face with a brick. The officer received a serious injury.

Evans was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, simple assault on a public official (dispatcher), resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He’s being held in the Copiah County Jail with no bond.
