GREENWOOD, Ind. — Officials with the Greenwood Fire Department provided information on a Tuesday morning fire that impacted an apartment complex in Greenwood.

According to a news release, the department responded to a reported fire at the Village Crossing apartment complex around 7 a.m. on Tuesday. Initial reports stated that flames were visible in one of the building’s entry waves and that flames had spread to through the roof.

When the department responded on scene, the release said that crews “immediately began efforts to suppress the fire.” Officials said that firefighters were able to “search and clear” all of the impacted building’s eight apartments in under 5 minutes.

“Thanks to the fire department’s swift actions, water was quickly applied to the fire and contained to the porch area of the building, preventing further damage to the apartments,” the release said.

The release said that all residents were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. As of this story’s publication, one family has been displaced from the building.

“At this time, investigators from the Greenwood Fire Department have begun the process of investigating the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation,” the release said.
