KENT, Ind. — A bus carrying the Indiana University Indianapolis men’s basketball team caught fire on Sunday.

Per a post from IU Indy Athletics on X, the men’s basketball team was on its way back from a road game against Northern Kentucky when the fire started. The team was in Kent, Indiana, when the blaze first broke out.

“On the return drive from today’s game against Northern Kentucky, the bus carrying the IU Indianapolis men’s basketball team experienced a mechanical issue that caused a fire around Kent, Indiana,” IU Indy Athletics administrators wrote in a prepared statement. “All members of the team and staff evacuated the bus without injury. Another bus is en route to pick up the team and deliver them back to Indianapolis.”

Prior to the fire, the Jaguars had fallen, 71-67, to the NKU Norse in Highland, Kentucky. The IU Indy men’s basketball team will play again on Thursday, when it hosts Robert Morris in Indianapolis.
