Boylan joins Rockford Promise tuition-free scholarship program

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Boylan Catholic High School announced Tuesday that it would be partnering with the Rockford Promise scholarship program to give its graduates the possibility of attending Rockford University tuition-free.

Boylan joins the Rockford Public Schools in the program which gives any Rockford high school student with a 3.0 GPA or higher, who is and MAP and PELL grant-eligible, the opportunity to attend Rockford University for free.

“This partnership is an incredible step forward in making higher education more accessible and affordable for Boylan students,” said Jeffrey P. Hohn, College Counselor at Boylan Catholic High School. “We encourage families and media to join us to learn more about how this initiative can help students achieve their college dreams.”

The Rockford Promise scholarship program works to keep Rockford students in the local workforce.

The City of Rockford has committed $500,000 annually towards the program through casino revenue. Any costs that exceed the contribution will be covered by Rockford University.
