St. Louis serial rape suspect arrested; authorities seek more victims in Chicago and beyond

CHICAGO — Authorities are looking for additional victims after a man was arrested in St Louis and charged with rape.

The St. Louis County Police Department released a statement Monday announce that 28-year-old Yahya Maly was taken into custody on Wednesday Feb 12. He is facing several charges including rape, attempted rape and kidnapping.

KTVI reports court documents alleged Maly raped at least five women between March 1, 2023, and Feb. 2, 2025, at his apartment in Ballwin, Missouri.

Authorities in St Louis County say Maly lived in several cities including Chicago and more victims could be in those areas.

Maly reported staying in Chicago from January 12 2022 to February 12, 2022.

Authorities said Maly met several of his victims via dating apps. He also used the name “John” while use the dating apps.

He also has been listed as having stayed or lived in the following locations:

• Henrico County, Virgina (Lived there from at least 2013 to 2021)
• Tucson, Arizon (Stayed there from December 3rd, 2022 to January 17th, 2023)
• Minneapolis—St. Paul, Minnesota  (Stayed there from January 27th, 2023 to February 25th, 2023)
