USPS will celebrate the “warmth, wit and charisma” of the “Golden Girls” star during an event at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens on March 27.
The stamp features a digitally created portrait of White against a violet background with “bubbly spots that befit her sparkling personality.” She is depicted wearing a polka-dotted blue top, with her name and “FOREVER USA” printed near the bottom.
White’s “impish smile” that “lit up performances in a career that spanned more than 60 years,” is honored in a commemorative Forever stamp fit for the global superstar.
Known as the “First Lady of Television,” White earned five Primetime Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Grammy Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In addition to her celebrated career, she was recognized for her dedication to animal welfare.
The stamp will be unveiled in March during a ceremony at L.A. Zoo’s Allen Ludden Plaza. Ludden and White were married until the former’s death in 1981. White passed on Dec. 31, 2021, two weeks shy of her 100th birthday.
When released to the public, the stamps will be sold in panes of 20 and will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price, USPS says. They can be purchased at Post Office locations nationwide, the USPS website or through the official USPS store on Amazon.com.
