Motorcyclist dead in Calcasieu Parish crash

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) — Officials said a motorcyclist died earlier this morning after an accident with another vehicle in Calcasieu Parish.

Louisiana State Police said 52-year-old Carson McCain, of Lake Charles, was driving his motorcycle north on LA Hwy 385 when, for reasons not yet known, the motorcycle began to slow and turn left toward a private driveway. At the same time, officials said, another vehicle was following behind McCain and struck the rear of the motorcycle, causing McCain to be ejected.

Officials said McCain, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Standard toxicology samples were submitted for analysis from both drivers. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
