Machesney Park man is suspect in Rockford DUI hit-and-run that killed 56-year-old woman

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police are actively searching for Phillip Wall, 45, of Machensey Park, the suspect in a fatal Rockford hit and run that left 56-year-old pedestrian dead.

Rockford Police officers responded to the area of North Springfield and West State around 6:55 p.m. on Saturday, January 25th, to find Michelle Jones severely injured and unresponsive.

She was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead at 7:36 p.m.

An autopsy determined she died of blunt trauma to the head, neck, chest, and abdomen.

On Friday, February 21st, police issued an arrest warrant for Wall on charges of Aggravated DUI Involving Death and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death.

Wall is not currently in custody and is being sought by authorities.
