Light rain and snow showers move into northern Utah Sunday

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Sunday, Utah! It’s a calm start to your Sunday with potential for light showers later this afternoon.

A weak system is moving into northern Utah, but most of the action will stay up in the Pacific Northwest. The system will bring increased cloud cover throughout the day with light mountain snowfall lasting into early Monday, mainly north of I-84. Light snowfall amounts are expected in most mountain areas with the Bear River Range along far northern Utah expected to do the best with roughly 4-8″ expected. 

After that system clears out, temperatures will warm up a bit on Tuesday, but a mostly dry cold front will move through later in the day. This will bring gusty winds to eastern Utah and parts of Wyoming. Winds could hit 45+ mph in the western Uinta Basin, though Castle Country and Uinta County have a lower chance of strong gusts.

This front will cool things down slightly midweek, but temps should warm up again later in the week. Nothing too dramatic in the weather world this week, just some minor ups and downs!
