Dozens rally for immigrants in downtown Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Dozens of people stood in the pouring rain in downtown Portland Sunday afternoon to protest the Trump Administration’s immigration policies.

The “Portland Stands With Immigrants” rally was held at at Terry Schrunk Plaza to call for an end to deportations and legalization for migrants that come to the US.

Local leaders have ramped up efforts to educate local communities of their rights as this administration carries out ICE deportations around the country.

Ralliers held signs with messages such as: “ICE – Inhumane, Callous, Evil,” “I prefer Crushed ICE,” “El problema es este Sistema,” and “Respect existence or Expect resistance”.

This is the latest in a series of immigration events highlighting rights, issues and fear throughout Oregon.
