CHICAGO — A woman was killed and another woman was injured in a shooting Saturday night at a River North hotel, according to Chicago police.

Police say officers responded to the scene around 8:15 p.m. in the 300 block of West Grand Avenue, where they found a 29-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the neck inside the lobby of a hotel.

According to police, the woman said she was shot by an unidentified male offender, who then fled the scene in a tan SUV, last seen heading east. The 29-year-old woman was taken to an area hospital and was listed in good condition.

Police say officers then conducted a further search and found a 32-year-old woman inside a guest room of the hotel with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. She was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.

Nobody is in custody at this time, police say, and Area Three detectives are investigating.
