1 hurt after escaping from bedroom window of burning house in Russell Springs

RUSSELL SPRINGS, Ky. (FOX 56) — A total of 20 firefighters from multiple departments worked for over three hours to battle a house fire in Jamestown on Saturday night with a person inside who was able to escape alive.

The Jamestown Fire Department (JFD) posted on Facebook that around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, crews were dispatched to 26 Holt Drive in Russell Springs in response to reports of a fire in the Stephens Ridge area with one person still inside.

The first crews to arrive found heavy fire conditions at the home, the department said.

The JFD said crews were able to find a survivor of the fire who had reportedly escaped through the bedroom window. He was taken to the hospital by Russell County emergency personnel.

Crews with the JFD worked with the Russell Springs Fire Department to extinguish the fire, taking just over three hours.

An investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
