What does Madera Community Hospital still need to do to reopen?

MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Work continues at Madera Community Hospital to get the hospital operational once again. In an update on Friday, staff revealed what still needs to be done to reopen the doors.

The announcement follows a public health survey which started earlier this month to evaluate the hospital’s resources. State surveyors examined the hospital’s readiness to take care of patients – as well as policies, procedures, employee files, facilities, supplies and equipment.

The update on Friday shared that the assessment by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) returned mostly positive findings. However, staff say that there are some areas that need correcting before an operating license can be granted. Those areas include:

  • Relocating tubing in patient rooms
  • Updating workflow in back-office areas

Staff describe the areas in need of improvement as minor corrections.

The areas requiring correction are being addressed promptly, and we are confident that we will meet the CDPH’s requirements in a timely manner.
