Stolen trailer is not stolen man tells court

A man who moved to this area from Idaho pled not guilty to having possession of a utility trailer that had been reported stolen during an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on February 10.

Thirty-three-year-old Devon Mark Seidner is charged with theft by receiving. He is free on a $2,500 bond.

During his appearance Monday, Seidner said the trailer was “claimed to be stolen” but told the court he had purchased it.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Seidner abandoned what was described as an “old” camper and the trailer in question at a site he had rented on County Road 168 last year.

He is reported to have paid for the site for several months before moving to an address in Mountain Home, leaving the camper and trailer behind.

When a Baxter County sheriff’s deputy checked the 10-foot utility trailer, it had been reported stolen.

The affidavit alleges Seidner had rented the utility trailer from a company in Kimberly, Idaho on July 25, 2023, and did not return it.

The trailer was reported to be worth about $1,600.

A grand larceny warrant was issued in Idaho in mid-April last year but the prosecutor there limited the extradition range to surrounding states only.

The trailer was impounded pending pick-up by the owner.
