CHP says they responded to the area of Highway 41, north of Avenue 11, for a two-vehicle head-on crash on Friday just after 3 a.m.
According to officers, preliminary investigation indicated that a 30-year-old man from Garden Grove, California, was driving a white 2020 Honda Accord, northbound on Highway 41, north of Avenue 11. A 28-year-old man from Fresno was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry, southbound on Highway 41, north of Avenue 11.
CHP reports that, for unknown reasons, the Honda crossed over the double yellow lines and into the first southbound lane, directly into the path of the Toyota, colliding head-on and causing major damage to both vehicles.
Investigators add a 22-year-old female passenger in the Honda was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital, where he ended up succumbing to his injuries, according to CHP. The driver of the Toyota was also transported with major injuries.
The identity of the woman and the man killed in this collision have not been released.
