Detective Tommie Brown, with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), said detectives began investigating the incident that occurred in the 3200 block of Sears Street on Friday, February 21.

According to Brown, the victim, Amanda Harris, 36, was transported to the hospital in the early morning hours by a family member. Harris was deceased when she arrived at the hospital, investigators said.

Brown said her body appeared to have been physically assaulted.
