Teen found dead in southern Oregon home, mother and boyfriend arrested

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman and her boyfriend were arrested after the death of the woman’s 17-year-old son in Lakeview, Ore., authorities said.

According to the Oregon State Police, officers assisted by the Oregon Department of Human Services Child Welfare were executing a protection order for a 17-year-old living at a home in Lakeview.

At the scene, police said they found the teen dead and took the mother, Amanda Edwards, 38, and her boyfriend Nathaniel Cullins, 31, into custody.

Edwards is facing several charges including criminally negligent homicide, first-degree criminal mistreatment, second-degree abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

According to court documents, Edwards is accused of withholding necessary and adequate food, physical care or medical attention as part of the criminal mistreatment charge.

Cullins also faces several charges including criminally negligent homicide, first-degree criminal mistreatment, second-degree abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and unlawful use of a weapon.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to contact Oregon State Police.
