The museum says each piece tells a story of families with ties to the area. Most dresses on display were sewn entirely by hand and featured different styles and fabrics.
Vera Stillmank, founder of Vera’s House of Bridals, said the exhibit is perfect for those interested in fashion and seamstressing.
“They reflect the history and the changing times. We have all sorts of colors and varieties. We go from pre-Civil War where you’re gonna see the hoop skirts into the Gilded age where you’re gonna see the busses and the ruffles and the fancy decorations, into the more simpler dresses at the turn of the century, right up to a stunning flapper dress that is just art deco at an extreme,” she said.
The exhibit is open Thursday – Sunday until March 16th.
