Governors Kemp, McMaster appointed to Trump’s Council of Governors

(WJBF) – Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster were appointed to the Council of Governors by President Donald Trump on Thursday.

On the appointment, Governor Kemp released the following statement to X this afternoon:

“Proud to represent hardworking Georgians as a member of @POTUS’ Council of Governors. I look forward to working together to improve state and federal partnerships on critical issues like disaster response, securing the border, public safety, and other policy areas that will strengthen our state and nation.”

Governor McMaster said on X Thursday morning:

“Thank you, President Trump, for the opportunity to serve on the Council of Governors. I look forward to working with my fellow governors to strengthen disaster response and national security efforts for South Carolina and our country.”

The Council of Governors was formed by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 to serve as forum for officials to discuss national security and disaster response.
